Russia’s Vostochny spaceport to debut with the launch of Soyuz-2.1a rocket

The spaceport, located in the Amur Region in the Russian Far East, will inaugurate its operations with the flight of a Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrying a trio of satellites.

Putin delays inaugural Vostochny Cosmodrome launch
Tomasz NowakowskiOctober 18th, 2015Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome on Wednesday, Oct. 14, to inspect construction work at the spaceport and chair a session on its development. He decided to postpone the date of Russia's first space launch from the Cosmodrome by four months, pushing the launch into early 2016.
