  • Ariane 5 launches GSAT-18, Sky Muster II commsats

    An Ariane 5 booster has successfully lifted off from Kourou, French Guiana, at 5:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. EDT; 20:30 GMT) on Wednesday, Oct. 5, carrying a duo of communications satellites. The mission, designated VA231 in Arianespace’s numbering system, was launched from the Ariane Launch Complex № 3 (ELA-3).

    The launch of the Ariane 5 rocket with GSAT-18 and Sky Muster II communications satellites has been delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions. The mission, designated VA231, was expected to liftoff at 5:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. EDT; 20:30 GMT) on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from ELA-3 in Kourou, French Guiana.

  • Ariane 5 to send a duo of communications satellites into orbit

    Arianespace is all set to conduct its eighth mission of the year – sending two communications satellites into space atop its workhorse Ariane 5 booster. Liftoff will take place from ELA-3 in Kourou, French Guiana. The 45-minute launch window starts at 5:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. EDT; 20:30 GMT) on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
