    It appears the Trump administration may look to end support for the International Space Station by 2025. This proposal, if approved by Congress, would be a huge mistake similar to that of ending the Apollo program in 1972.

  • ULA, Bigelow Aerospace set sights on lunar orbit outpost

    United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Bigelow Aerospace are teaming up to send an inflatable space station to low-lunar orbit by 2022. The effort will feature a series of launches aboard ULA’s new Vulcan rocket using its Advanced Cryogenic Evolved Stage (ACES) to make Bigelow’s B330 habitat a depot to facilitate future exploration and development of the Moon.

  • NASA, Roscosmos sign statement on lunar space station cooperation

    Continuing a tradition of cooperative partnership in space exploration, the respective space agencies of the United States and Russia signed a joint statement to develop a space station in lunar orbit. NASA and Roscosmos made the announcement on Sept. 27, 2017, at the 68th International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Australia.

    Lockheed Martin was recently selected by NASA to build a full-scale prototype of a cislunar habitat. The development of the habitation module is part of the Phase II contract for the Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships (NextSTEP) program.

    With NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) well into development, the agency has finally laid out plans for the early missions of its super-heavy-lift rocket. After an initial shakedown flight for Exploration Mission 1 (EM-1), the SLS will deliver components of what has been designated a "Deep Space Gateway" to lunar vicinity.
