  • Dragon splashes down in Pacific with time-critical experiments

    SpaceX’s CRS-11 Dragon capsule splashed down at 8:12 a.m. EDT (12:12 GMT) on July 3, 2017, in the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of Baja California after some 28 days attached to the International Space Station.

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — First seeing the flame of the Saturn V, then the Space Shuttle, Launch Complex 39A saw its sixth Falcon 9 take to the skies on a journey to orbit. The CRS-11 mission was the 100th launch from that historic pad.

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — SpaceX has successfully launched its 11th Dragon (CRS-11) toward the International Space Station (ISS) in support of NASA's Commercial Resupply Service (CRS) program. The company's “Full Thrust” Falcon 9 rocket launched the first refurbished Dragon capsule carrying crew supplies and experiments to be used on the orbiting lab.

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA and SpaceX are preparing to launch the 11th Commercial Resupply Services mission to the International Space Station atop one of the company’s “Full Thrust” Falcon 9 rockets. This will be the second launch attempt as the June 1, 2017, attempt was called off due to lightning in the area. SFI's show will begin at 4:30 p.m. EDT (20:30 GMT).

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — SpaceX is continuing its effort to increase its operational tempo and demonstrate spacecraft reusability. While delivering supplies and multiple experiments, the CRS-11 cargo mission to the International Space Station (ISS) will also feature the first reuse of a Dragon pressure vessel as well as the return of a Falcon 9 first stage to Landing Zone 1 at nearby Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

    KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla — Just a day before Memorial Day, SpaceX performed its customary static fire test on a Falcon 9 slated to send the CRS-11 Dragon capsule to the International Space Station. The test took place at noon EDT (16:00 GMT) May 28, 2017, at Launch Complex 39A.
