NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility located near Chincoteague Island in Virginia is located some 100 miles north-northeast of Norfolk. From this site, NASA deploys an array of aircraft, high-altitude balloons, sounding rockets, and spacecraft. As of March 2017, there have been an estimated 17,000 sounding rocket launches from the facility. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at Wallops is where Pad-0A is located. Since April 2013, this launch pad has served Dulles, Virginia-based Orbital ATK and its Antares family of rockets. Photos courtesy: Jason Rhian, Stephen Nolte, Charles Twine, Mark Usciak,
