ORBCOMM OG2 (Second Generation) is the world's first and only commercial satellite network 100 percent dedicated to machine-to-machine (M2M) messaging and communication. SpaceX launched 11 Orbcomm OG2 satellites on December 22, 2015. This launch is perhaps most notable for being the first time the first stage of an orbital rocket made a successful return and vertical landing. SpaceX’s landed the Falcon 9 first stage on land at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 13 (now Landing Zone One). The Orbcomm flight lifted off at 8:29 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (01:29 UTC) on December 21, 2015 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) located in Florida.
