The OA-6 mission marked the second flight of Dulles, Virginia-based Orbital ATK’s Cygnus spacecraft atop a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 401 rocket. The mission lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located in Florida on March 23, 2016. The amount of payload that the OA-6 Cygnus carried to the International Space Station was some 7,745 lbs (3,513 kilograms). The mission was the second time that a Cygnus spacecraft was launched from Cape Canaveral via ULA’s Atlas V rocket under the $1.9 billion Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract that the company has signed with NASA.
