The third spacecraft launched under the five satellite Mobile user Objective System (MUOS) was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located in Florida on January 20, 2015. Colorado-based United Launch Alliance (ULA) used the most powerful version of their Atlas V launch vehicle, the 551 (the rocket was numbered AV-052), to send the MUOS-3 satellite on its way to orbit. This version of the rocket has a five meter fairing and uses five Aerojet Rocketdyne-provided AJ60A solid rocket motors on its first stage. The MUOS spacecraft were launched by ULA on behalf of the U.S. Navy. MUOS is comprised of five satellites (four operational satellites and on spare) as well as four ground stations.
