NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN Mission (MAVEN) probe was developed to study the Martian atmosphere while orbiting the Red Planet. MAVEN's objectives include discovering how the planet's atmosphere and water was lost over time. The spacecraft launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 41 atop an Atlas V 401 (AV-038) rocket on November 18, 2013.
