The eighth Block II F Global Positioning System satellite (GPS IIF-8) was launched atop United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) Atlas V 401, AV-050 rocket on October 29, 2014. Lifting off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located in Florida, the mission was redesignated USA-258. The Boeing-built spacecraft lifted off at 1:21 p.m. EDT (1721 GMT) at the very opening of an eighteen minute long launch window.
