SpaceX sent one of the United States Air Force's Boeing X-37B space planes on the fifth Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV-5) mission to orbit on Sept. 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. EDT (14:00 GMT) from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A located in Florida. The mission got underway just three days prior to the expected landfall of Hurricane Irma and marked the first time that the secretive space plane flew on something other than a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 501 launch vehicle. The OTV-5 is a small, uncrewed space plane which has conducted four flights prior to this flight. Photos courtesy: Mike Howard
