WALLOPS FLIGHT FACILITY, Va. -- Dulles, Virginia-based Orbital ATK and NASA launched the tenth flight of one of the company's uncrewed Cygnus resupply spacecraft atop an Antares 230 rocket to the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 4:30 a.m. EDT. The flight of the S.S. J.R. Thompson was the ninth to the ISS under the U.S. space agency's Commercial Resupply Services contract. Orbital ATK and NASA jointly developed the Antares /Cygnus system to provide commercial resupply services to the orbiting laboratory. Orbital Sciences (the company's former name) designed and built Antares, a medium-class rocket. The Cygnus spacecraft is produced by Orbital's industrial partner Thales Alenia Space. This mission saw some 7,400 pounds (3,357 kilograms) of crew supplies, experiments and vehicle hardware sent to the ISS. Photos courtesy: Mike Deep, Mark Usciak, Charles Twine, Steve Hammer
