United Launch Alliance employed one of its Atlas V 551 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located in Florida. The fifth and final Mobile User Objective System (MUOS-5) satellite was launched on June 24, 2016 on behalf of the United States at 10:30 a.m. EDT (14:30 GMT). Colorado-based ULA had a 44 minute launch window in which to get the rocket and its precious cargo off the launch pad and on its way to orbit. The MUOS system is comprised of some five satellites (four operational spacecraft and one on-orbit spare) as well as four ground stations and a terrestrial transport network. The total cost for the mission has been estimated at U.S. $7.34 billion.
