GSAT-18 is an Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) geosynchronous communication satellite designed to provide continuity of services on operational satellites in C-band, Extended C-band and Ku-bands. GSAT-18 carries 48 communication transponders to provide services in Normal C-band, Upper Extended C-band and Ku-bands of the frequency spectrum. GSAT-18 also carries a Ku-band beacon to help ground antennas accurately point towards the satellite. GSAT-18 is designed to have an operational life of about 15 years. Sky Muster II (a.k.a. NBN Co 1B) is an Australian geosynchronous communications satellite designed to help deliver fast broadband services to parts of regional, remote, and offshore locations in Australia. More than 700 images submitted by the public as part of a contest were stitched together to create the artwork on the nose of the rocket. It has an expected design life of 15 years. GSAT-18 and Sky Muster II both launched on an Arianespace Ariane 5 rocket on October 5, 2016 from Kourou, French Guiana. Photos courtesy: Jeremy Beck
