SpaceX's CRS-9/ SpX-9 mission was the first operational flight that the Hawthorne, California-based company conducted under the $1.6 billion Commercial Resupply Services contract that it signed with NASA. Cargo, crew supplies and experiments were launched to the International Space Station inside the cargo version of SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft on July 18, 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40 in Florida.
