Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) resumed flights to the International Space Station under the $1.6 billion Commercial Resupply Services contract that the Hawthorne, California-based company has signed with NASA. The CRS-8 (also known as SpX-8) mission got underway from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 40 located in Florida on April 8, 2016. The payload for this mission was SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft with an estimated 6,914 lbs (3,136 kg) worth of experiments crew supplies and cargo bound for the International Space Station. Liftoff took place at 4:43 p.m. EST (20:23 GMT).
