KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- In May of 2018, United Launch Alliance (ULA) workers with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) went on strike outside of the South Gate at KSC. The workers were protesting ULA practices which included ULA can compel workers to travel across the country for extended periods (up to 30 days) with very little notice. The workers were upset about how this impacts their family lives and plans. They wanted travel to be a voluntary option. The second cause for the strike were claims that ULA could compel workers to work mandatory overtime with no notice, as in, workers show up in the morning thinking they're working until noon, and be told they are actually working until 4:00 p.m. Photos courtesy: Michael Howard
