NASA held an event at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to mark the arrival of the space agency’s Juno spacecraft in orbit above the gas giant Jupiter on July 5, 2016. The Lockheed Martin-built spacecraft was launch on August 5, 2011 atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 551 (AV-029) rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 41 in Florida. After the spacecraft’s planned seven year mission is complete it will be deorbited into Jupiter to avoid possible contamination of the planet’s moons. Photos courtesy: Jim Sharkey, Matthew Kuhns
